I have appreciated this class so much as it has taught me to
listen, learn, and discover who I really am.
My hope is that I really take the time to learn about my children and families this year in the preschool program. I am going to make an effort to make sure that my communication with my families is applicable for all. My goal for early childhood is that all children will be welcomed and accepted with their peers and that we can create learning opportunties for acceptance and that they have a place in our program and society.
I have enjoyed sharing thoughts with each and every one of you and have learned so much about how we all continue to take pride in our profession. Each one of you has made lasting contributions to our online classroom. Keep up the good work and I hope to see you all in the next class!
Lori,
ReplyDeleteThis class has been an eye-opening experience and an opportunity for self-reflection. It is important at the beginning of the school year for teachers to take an adequate amount of time to build classroom community and hopefully by creating this atmosphere peers will respect each other and treat everyone fairly. This is just one way that we can make an effort to meet the goal of all children being accepted. Thank you for your support throughout this class.

Lori,
ReplyDeleteYour goal is great. I think it is very important to help children to be people who can understand and accept the differences we all have instead of only focusing on teachers to be responsive and care about children from diverse backgrounds.
Thank you very much for all the insights through the course!

Listen, learn and discover. I love that you captured these words in thinking about your experiences over the past 8 weeks. I agree. I also think these are vital in thinking about diversity, culture and equity. We must learn to listen and discover to stand up for children and families.
ReplyDeleteGreat post!
